Driftless Area Scenic Byway
You may just be wondering “driftless?” what could that possibly mean?
Well, I am sure you have heard of “The Land Time Forgot” and well, we are “The Land The Glaciers Forgot”. That is to say, the glaciers never “scraped” by like they did in so much of the Midwest leaving it rather flat. We have hills, high stone bluffs, deep valleys, abundant creeks and the kind of topography that makes a car trip really interesting!
Our friends at the Northeast Iowa RC&D know this and have created 4 very interesting and scenic drives-each with a signature that defines our area in Northeast Iowa. The roads are well marked with distinct signage to help keep you on the trail.
